VN Engineers, Inc. is looking to hire a full-time Senior Civil Engineer to be part of our growing and passionate Design Team! Responsibilities will include providing civil engineering design services for various projects including DOT facilities and supporting our Highway designers. Current site design projects include several CTDOT Train Stations, New Haven Rail Yard, Bridgeport Rail Yard facilities, and CTDOT maintenance facilities. In addition to site design VN’s Design Team works on a wide variety of projects including local roadway, state highway, and limited access Interstates, complete streets, sidewalk and trails, bridge, and rail design.

The ideal candidate will have related experience in the production of civil/site and highway bid documents including plans, estimate, and specs, as well as drainage design including water quality and MS4 experience and permitting experience. The candidate must be able to manage multiple concurrent projects. Effective communication, technical writing, people, and organizational skills will be essential for a successful candidate.

Requirements:

  • B.S. in Civil Engineering
  • 7+ years of experience
  • licensed Professional Engineer (PE) in either CT, FL, RI, MA or VA
  • Knowledgeable of Federal, State and Local design standards
  • Proficient in the following software packages: Microstation and OpenRoads, or AutoCAD and AutoCAD Civil 3D, and HydroCAD.

Civil/Highway Engineer VN Engineers, Inc. – North Haven, CT Office

VN Engineers, Inc. is looking to hire a full-time Civil/Highway Engineer to be part of our growing Design Team! Responsibilities will include providing civil engineering design services for various projects including DOT facilities and supporting our Highway designers.   • 2+ years of Experience
  • Engineer-In Training (EIT) License preferred

Structural Engineer | Bridges

We are seeking a motivated and enthusiastic Structural Engineer | Bridges to join our growing team at VN Engineers, Inc. The ideal candidate will lead the analysis, design, and contract document development for major transportation structures.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct detailed structural analysis and design calculations
  • Prepare plans, specifications, and cost estimates for projects
  • Manage project budgets and schedules
  • Mentor and supervise the work of junior engineers and technicians
  • Provide on-site inspection and construction management services
  • Stay up to date with the latest bridge engineering technologies and design methodologies

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or related field required, Master of Science with a focus in Structural Engineering preferred
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in bridge engineering
  • Progressive experience in design and construction of bridges
  • Experience in the development of demolition plans and specifications is a plus
  • Strong knowledge of AASHTO, AREMA, State Design Manuals and Standards
  • Experience using industry-standard software such as MicroStation v8i, OpenBridge, AutoCAD, STAAD, LARSA 4D, Midas, MDX, AASHTOWare
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills
  • NY PE license is required
  • Experience working on Design Build projects is a plus but not required
  • Experience working with the MTA, PANYNJ, NYSDOT, or NYCDOT is a plus but not required
  • Passion for the field of structural engineering

Construction Inspection (New York)

VN Engineers, Inc. is seeking various candidates with construction inspection experience working for USACOE / NY CITY and/or NY State Transportation Agencies.

The inspector will have to review the plans and specifications and observe and report on construction progress. Position requires a minimum 4 years of experience in the relevant field plus an engineering degree with appropriate licenses or one of the below certifications:

  • NICET Inspection and Testing of Water-Based Systems Technician, Level III having passed Work Elements 45006, 45007, and 45010, or a NICET currently recertified General Knowledge Designation, Senior Engineering Technician (SET) of similar qualifications that are acceptable to the COR
  • NICET currently recertified Electrical/Electronics, Electrical Testing or Electrical Power Engineering Technology General Knowledge Designation, Senior Engineering Technician (SET) with qualifications that are acceptable to the COR. Alternatively, an IAEI Master Electrical Inspector or an ICCC E2 Commercial Electrical Inspector with qualifications acceptable to the COR
  • NICET Video Security Systems Technician, Level IV; or a NICET currently recertified General Knowledge Designation, Senior Engineering Technician (SET) of similar qualifications that are acceptable to the COR
  • NICET Audio Systems Technician, Level III having passed Work Elements 15002, 15004, 15005, 15013, 15015, and 15016, or a NICET currently recertified General Knowledge Designation, Senior Engineering Technician (SET) of similar qualifications that are acceptable to the COR
  • IAEI Master Electrical Inspector or ICCC E2 Commercial Electrical Inspector

Candidate will need to possess good verbal communication skills to effectively communicate with project staff and clients. Candidate must be willing to work nights and weekends.
